It gives us immense pleasure to introduce the first edition of textbook of Applied Nutrition and Dietetics for nursing students. Nutrition to humans has been of great importance since its evolution and precisely speaking in the era of more vulnerability to diseases it is of far more importance than ever been. India, like any other developing country rising from its cradles, is dealing with lots of problems related to nutrition. Nutrition hugely impacts the life and productivity of an individual and thus the whole country.
The book is organized into 13 units for semester -2nd as per the new Indian Nursing Council (INC) syllabus. Nursing in mind is formatted easily in readable format. It targets the complex and dynamic field of nutrition and also covers the consumer and family health nutritional issues. It will help in formulating the basic concepts of nutrition and how these concepts could be utilized in hospitals for the treatment of patients. The book pitches for all the topics included in the syllabus of undergraduate students of nursing and peaks to deal with the nutrition needs of all the age groups, right from infancy to old age.
