Research is an organized investigation carried out to provide information for solving problems. It is the back bone of every science. Research is the systematic process of collecting and analyzing information to increase our understanding of how nature works and various phenomena’s. “Research methodology” is a systematic way to solve the research problem. It is a science of studying how research is done in a scientific manner and various steps and procedures followed during the process of research. Biostatistics is the application of statistical methods to the biological and life sciences. Statistical methods are utilized in various researches and helps in providing accurate information from a vast population. Biostatistics helps in the development and application of statistical methods to a wide range of topics in life sciences. Biostatistics encompasses the design of biological experiments, the collection and analysis of data from those experiments and the interpretation of the results. This book entitled “Fundamentals of Research methodology & Biostatistics” was written by keeping in minds the syllabus of 8th semester B Pharm and 4t year Pharm D courses. It provides an introduction to research and research methods. It also gives information to basics of biostatistics and various statistical procedures. We hope that this book will be helpful to the students of pharmacy field and other students whose curriculum prescribes the study of basics of research and biostatistics.
