CONCISE COURSE IN PHYSICAL PHARMACEUTICS-I FOR B PHARMACY SEMESTER-III STUDENTS

Physical Pharmaceutics is a division of pharmaceutical sciences which involves the study of relationship between the physical and chemical properties of a drug to its biological properties and its fate in in-vivo for designing the optimized dosage form. Knowledge gained on this field is very much important for a pharmacist in selection of right kind of materials for developing a dosage form.
Special emphasize is given to the solubility parameters of the drugs,its relation for developing a dosage form, various terms for expressing the solubility,ideal parameters and factors affecting it and solubility of three phases, Raoults law and distribution laws of solution are discussed.Next chapter deals with the states and properties of matter and physiochemical properties of drug molecules like refractive index,optical rotation,dielectric constant, dipole moment etc their determination and applications
